Is branding an investment or a nice-to-have for your business?

It’s not up to us as branding consultants to convince you that branding is what your business needs. ⁣ No really, if you ask us, of course we’re going to say “Yes, you need branding” ☺️⁣ However, we can help you determine the impact that branding could make for your business. So that it becomes an investment, rather than just a nice-to-have office expense, in which case you may as well buy a nice plant to pretty up your space. ⁣ But it comes down to two things:⁣ - A ‘want’⁣ - A ‘problem’ (a need)⁣ A ‘want’ could be the desire to look better than your competitor. It could be to feel proud of your business when presented to others. Or that your business didn’t have the budget/time to consider a well-established brand identity in your startup phase. So now is the time to step up your game 🙌⁣ A ‘problem’ on the other hand, means branding is the required solution. If it’s not, I’ll personally tell you that branding is not the solution...and yes, I have advised a client they didn’t need it. Or at the very least, that branding is only one potential solution to consider. ⁣ Attracting customers is a common problem for businesses. A potential customer might struggle to recognise your brand out of a line-up if your branding isn’t up to scratch. ⁣ It could also be that you have inconsistent branding, where a customer sees one style of identity on your social media, but things look totally different on your website or packaging. This creates a disconnect and potentially a lack of trust in your brand legitimacy. Or it may be as simple as giving you the confidence to charge what you believe you are worth, with a professional identity that helps justify your price in your own mind.⁣ To me, branding is an investment. I practice what I preach with a consistent identity (both visually and though my tone of voice) that is building an audience and I believe has set a great platform for my business in the long run. ⁣ So the question, if you are considering branding or rebranding your business, is whether or not this is a long-term investment you believe will shift the needle and achieve your business goals? 🤩
